Ingredients
- 1 package Phil’s Finest Maple Apple Chicken Sausage
- 4 biscuits, fresh or frozen (we love Mason Dixie Buttermilk Biscuits!)
- 4 eggs
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 slices cheese (cheddar, white cheddar, colby, gouda… you decide!)
- 1 bottle hot sauce of your choice for serving
- Optional: ¼ cup chives, minced
Method
- Prepare and bake your biscuits according to the package directions.
- Cut the Maple Apple Chicken sausages lengthwise, almost all the way through, butterfly style. Heat your skillet on medium-high, add a small scoop of butter, place sausages open side down for maximum crispiness. Cook until golden brown and crisp, remove and set aside on a plate.
- Heat saute pan over medium heat, add butter and swirl to coat. When your butter is sizzling, crack egg into pan and fry until edges are golden but yolk is still runny, sunny side up.
- When biscuits are baked, split them in half. To build your sandwich: first, place your sausage on the bottom half of each biscuit, followed by a slice of cheese, and then your fried egg. OPTIONAL: fancify your sandwich with a big pinch of freshly cut chives.
- Finally, add hot sauce to your heart’s delight, top it off with the rest of the biscuit and enjoy it in the morning sunshine or whenever else you'd like!
